Company requests clarifications on denied plot for River View Park in Cali

Ferias y Eventos S.A., operator of River View Park, asked the SAE and Cali's City Hall to explain why a plot on Calle 5 was not authorized for the park's installation during the year-end season. This request follows a similar conflict last year, when the land was allocated to an urban project. The company had initiated procedures to rent the lot but received no approval.

The plot in question, located between carreras 48 and 50 on Calle 5 in Cali, is managed by the Sociedad de Activos Especiales (SAE), the entity in charge of assets in judicial processes or domain extinction. Its use requires approval from both the SAE and the district administration.

Ferias y Eventos S.A. proposed temporary use of the land for the amusement park, which would operate for a limited period with public access. The initiative included safety measures, public order, and logistical management, along with generating temporary jobs and providing family entertainment in December.

The company advanced the rental procedures in advance, noting that the lot had previously been used for recreational, cultural, and commercial events. However, it received no official response allowing planning to proceed.

This incident echoes last year's controversy over the same plot. Then, the SAE requested its restitution to build Parque Central de la 50, a project aligned with COP16 environmental commitments.

So far, River View Park has not been installed in Cali, and no relocation has been announced. The company stated its willingness to meet requirements if a viable alternative is defined.
