Delhi Police arrested seven people linked to a Pakistan-backed terror syndicate led by Shahzad Bhatti and Ajmal Gujjar. The operation disrupted plans for attacks in Delhi-NCR and halted smuggling of arms and narcotics.
Delhi Police Special Cell said it dismantled an international terror-crime network operating under Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence. The group, run by gangster-turned-terrorist Shahzad Bhatti and associate Ajmal Gujjar, recruited Indian nationals to smuggle weapons, ammunition and narcotics from Pakistan.
Officers recovered five semi-automatic pistols, 41 live cartridges, seven phones with incriminating material, a vehicle and bank account records. Intelligence about the module surfaced in mid-May, leading to the arrest of Mohit alias Yogi in Yamuna Vihar and subsequent detentions of Anas Tyagi, Arif alias Pradhan and Karanveer Singh.
DCP Narra Chaitanya stated the intervention prevented several planned terror incidents. The arrested individuals had prior criminal records and used social media, encrypted apps and hawala channels for coordination. Investigations continue to trace other members.
