DIG Fayoade warns Osun politicians against harbouring criminals

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Adegoke Fayoade has warned politicians in Osun State not to harbour criminals ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The warning came during a stakeholders’ meeting on Friday at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo. Fayoade directed security agencies to begin regular joint patrols with armoured vehicles from this weekend until the election.

He said the agencies would not tolerate violence or lawlessness and would ensure a peaceful poll similar to those in Ekiti and Anambra states. The tension was described as a spillover from the 2022 governorship election.

Representatives from the Nigerian Army, NSCDC, INEC, DSS and other agencies attended the meeting. Fayoade stressed that anyone found disrupting peace would face the law regardless of political affiliation.
