The Miami Dolphins are preparing for their primetime game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday, with key offensive player De'Von Achane expected to return from a rib injury sustained in Week 14 against the New York Jets. Achane, who was limited in practice over the last two days, sat out the second half of the Jets game but is projected to play, according to head coach Mike McDaniel. "Dolphins RB De'Von Achane is expected to play Monday vs the Steelers, per McDaniel," reported ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques.
Achane has been a standout in the 2025 season, rushing for 1,126 yards at 5.8 yards per carry, catching 55 passes for 383 yards, and scoring 11 total touchdowns. His contributions have fueled the Dolphins' four-game winning streak, with over 90 rushing yards in each contest, including more than 100 yards in three of them before the injury-shortened Jets outing.
The Steelers' run defense has struggled recently, surrendering over 200 rushing yards in each of their last two games. Pittsburgh will miss defensive lineman Derrick Harmon, their first-round pick and a solid run stopper, forcing reliance on Yahya Black, who has had difficulties maintaining gap integrity in recent starts.
In addition to Achane, cornerback Jack Jones, who appeared on the injury report after missing Thursday's session, is also expected to participate. McDaniel indicated Jones should be good to go, potentially matching up against Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf, who recently had his best performance with the team. The Dolphins will hold a practice under the lights in Pittsburgh tonight to acclimate to the environment, with McDaniel noting, “Added bonus we get to get ourselves into the environment.”
Separately, Achane and teammate Jaylen Wright were fined by the NFL for a "violent gesture" celebration following Achane's 13-yard touchdown run in the first quarter against the Jets. Achane received an $8,238 fine, while Wright was fined $6,388, likely for a nose wipe motion amid a group celebration involving a mock campfire.
