Egypt has developed 39 new cities over the past decade under its urban expansion strategy. The New Administrative Capital has emerged as the flagship smart city.
Deputy Minister of Housing for New Urban Communities Walid Abbas made the announcement at the opening of Capital Forum 2026, held under the patronage of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
Abbas described the New Capital as "an integrated investment and development model that has strengthened Egypt’s position in smart urban development." He noted that investments extend to digital infrastructure, job creation, and foreign direct investment.
In a separate address on behalf of Administrative Capital for Urban Development Chairperson Khaled Abbas, General Manager Ahmed Fahmy said cooperation between state institutions and the private sector has turned plans into achievements. The forum is organised by Al Ahram in partnership with Impact.
