Egypt’s Industrial Control Authority (ICA) submitted its Q1 2026 performance report to Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem, detailing inspections of 1,041 factories. The activities included issuing licenses and resolving complaints to bolster industrial oversight. ICA head Ihab Amin emphasized its role in ensuring standards compliance.
Egypt’s Industrial Control Authority (ICA) has ramped up its oversight, conducting inspection campaigns on 1,041 factories between January and March 2026, as outlined in its performance report to Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem. This included 878 factories via joint missions with the General Authority for Industrial Development and 148 in cooperation with the National Food Safety Authority for sampling and export certificates.
The ICA also inspected 337 boilers and thermal machines, visited 114 service and maintenance centres, and monitored production inputs in 15 factories. It issued 195 licenses and 701 operating permits for boilers and thermal equipment, plus three licenses for handling hazardous industrial waste, approved renewals for 186 after-sales centres, and registered 19 printing facilities in packaging.
The authority resolved all 810 complaints received, provided 3,659 technical consultations, and prepared 745 specialized studies, including 718 for customs temporary admission and drawback systems. Ihab Amin, ICA head, stated: "the authority plays a central role in strengthening oversight of factories and production processes," noting that inspections ensure compliance with domestic and international standards to protect consumers and Egyptian products' reputation.
Additionally, it issued prior approvals for 59,701 vehicles under Ministerial Decree No. 9 of 2022 and participated in 161 technical committees.
