Egyptian officials meet to enhance state-owned enterprises governance

Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa and Central Auditing Organisation head Mohamed Al-Faisal Youssef discussed mechanisms to improve the performance of state-owned enterprises.

The meeting took place on 20 July 2026 and was also attended by Hashem El-Sayed, Assistant to the Prime Minister and Chief Executive Officer of the State-Owned Enterprises Unit. Discussions centred on strengthening governance, restructuring plans, and government monitoring systems to raise institutional and financial efficiency.

Issa described enhanced governance as a primary pillar for developing state-owned companies and optimising resource use. He stressed the Central Auditing Organisation's role in financial control and the need for closer cooperation between executive and supervisory bodies.

Youssef confirmed the organisation's ongoing commitment to cooperation with state institutions. El-Sayed noted that the State-Owned Enterprises Unit is implementing a programme to inventory, classify, and govern companies in order to improve management and asset returns.
