Florida man faces charges after trapping woman on date

A 34-year-old Florida man has been arrested for allegedly preventing a woman and her toddler from leaving his apartment during a date that turned alarming. The incident unfolded after the woman traveled three hours from Orlando to Miami. Police rescued her following a friend's emergency call.

Saady Castellanos Triminio, 34, was taken into custody by Miami police on charges including false imprisonment, battery by strangulation, robbery, and child neglect. The woman met Castellanos Triminio in early February through a social media dating app and agreed to visit him after phone conversations.

On Friday, she traveled by train from Orlando to Miami with her 3-year-old daughter. Castellanos Triminio picked them up at the station, but instead of dining out as planned, he ordered pizza and brought them to his apartment in the 7800 block of NE Bayshore Court. Upon arrival, the woman felt uneasy about the home's condition, noting it was generally dirty and the bathroom lacked toilet paper, according to the arrest affidavit.

As they talked, Castellanos Triminio requested a hug and kiss, but she declined, stating they were just friends, and began gathering her belongings to leave. The affidavit states he became irate, insisting it was too dangerous outside, and bear-hugged her to block the exit. She texted a friend for help, but he snatched her phone, leading her to scream. He then covered her mouth and nose with his hand, impeding her breathing and cries.

The woman escaped to a locked room with her daughter and called her friend, who dialed 911. Officers arrived shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday and instructed the friend to have the victim make noise. Castellanos Triminio opened the door, allowing police to rescue her. She had bruises on both arms but declined medical attention.

After receiving Miranda rights, Castellanos Triminio admitted to the events, explaining he prevented her departure due to perceived dangers and covered her face to avoid alerting neighbors. He remains in Miami-Dade County jail without bond and under an immigration hold.
