A serious traffic accident on Camino a Nahueltoro in the Ñuble Region resulted in four deaths on Saturday. The victims, members of the same family, were returning after spending the day by a river when the vehicle crashed into a wall. The prosecutor's office is investigating the causes of the incident.
Shock gripped the San Carlos commune after the fatal accident that claimed the lives of four people from the same family unit. According to chief prosecutor Tamara Cuello, the victims were identified as José Manuel Larenas Cerna, Juan Arturo Larenas Cerna, Jonathan Andrés Larenas Lagos, and a 17-year-old with initials Á.M.L.L. All were traveling in the same vehicle when the crash occurred at kilometer 8 of the route.
The incident happened when the driver lost control of the vehicle for reasons still under investigation, colliding with a perimeter wall of a parcel. The family had been spending time near a river before heading back. The Public Prosecutor's Office assigned the inquiries to the SIAT unit of Carabineros de Chile, which conducted measurements and technical analysis at the scene.
The bodies were transported by the Chillán Medical Legal Service for autopsies. The investigation will continue to determine possible factors such as mechanical failures or road conditions that may have contributed to the accident.
