Interior Minister Laurent Núñez stated that the comments are “absolutamente inaceptables” and do not reflect what France is. He highlighted that the country is diverse and a republic where everyone must find their place.
Delegate Minister Aurore Bergé said that “los resbalones racistas repetidos son insoportables” and expressed pride in the team. Overseas Territories Minister Naïma Moutchou called on the French Football Federation to initiate legal actions against Rajoy.
President Pedro Sánchez criticized Rajoy's “declaraciones xenófobas” and affirmed that Spain belongs to those who love and work for it. The reactions come ahead of the World Cup 2026 semifinal match between Spain and France.
