In a 2016 interview with Glamour, co-creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane discussed their favorite episodes, likening the task to choosing a favorite child.
Kauffman expressed a particular fondness for episodes centered on births, attributing it to her perspective as a mother. The series featured several such storylines, including Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow) serving as a surrogate for her brother Frank Jr. (Giovanni Ribisi) and his wife Alice (Debra Jo Rupp).
