Homeless person dies in hit-and-run in Neiva

A homeless person died early this morning after being struck by a vehicle in Neiva. The driver fled without providing aid, leaving the case under investigation. Authorities are working to identify the victim and the perpetrator.

The incident took place near the intersection of Carrera 15 and Calle 2A in Neiva's San Martín neighborhood. Reports indicate that the victim, who often begged at traffic lights, was crossing the street when a vehicle struck him around dawn on November 26, 2025.

The car, referred to as a 'ghost vehicle' by officials, did not stop to provide first aid, and its driver fled the scene. This has hindered efforts to identify both the perpetrator and the victim, whose full identity remains unknown.

Neiva's Mobility Secretariat has launched the appropriate investigations to clarify the events. The case is ongoing, with focus on gathering evidence to progress the inquiry. Such hit-and-runs involving vulnerable pedestrians underscore the need for enhanced monitoring in the city's urban areas.
