Horse racing set to return to Towcester Racecourse next year

Horse racing will return to Towcester Racecourse in 2027 after a £2m revamp and a new partnership with bookmaker Betway. The venue closed in 2019 following financial difficulties.

Bookmaker Betway announced a partnership with racecourse owners Orchestrate on July 9 to revive National Hunt racing at the Northamptonshire track for the 2027/28 jumps season.

The venue will be renamed Betway Towcester Racecourse, with Betway serving as principal strategic partner and exclusive betting partner. Extensive refurbishments worth more than £2m are already underway at the site, which last hosted horse racing in May 2018.

Orchestrate chairman Mike Davis said the company is thrilled to welcome Betway and that the partnership turns their ambition to bring horse racing back into reality. The company is working with the British Horseracing Authority to secure licences for racing in autumn 2027.

Betway PR manager Lewis Knowles said the partnership will offer a unique experience for racegoers, owners, trainers and jockeys. A fly-on-the-wall series documenting the revival is scheduled for release in 2027.
