A fully developed fire has broken out in a villa in Kristinehamn on the night towards Christmas Day. Police describe the situation as serious, and rescue services expect to work on site for several hours. Two people have been rescued from the building.
On the night towards Christmas Day, shortly after 23:30 on Christmas Eve, rescue services were alerted to a villa in Kristinehamn in Värmland. The fire was fully developed when they arrived, and police classified the situation as serious.
"It is a serious situation," says Jan Materne, duty officer at the police.
Smoke divers were sent into the villa to try to dampen the fire. According to Louise Joensuu, team leader at SOS Alarm, two people have been brought out of the building.
"We have gotten two people out of the building, ambulance takes over the matter," she says.
Rescue services estimate that the operation will last for several hours. There is no information about the cause of the fire or the condition of the rescued individuals in the initial reports. The incident occurred during a holiday evening, but no further details on the impact on the surrounding area have been reported.
