Hurricanes activate Kochetkov and assign him to AHL

The Carolina Hurricanes have activated goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov from injured reserve after he missed the first 10 games of the season due to a lower-body injury. The team also placed defenseman K’Andre Miller on injured reserve retroactive to Oct. 20. Kochetkov was immediately assigned to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL for a conditioning stint.

RALEIGH, N.C. - Eric Tulsky, general manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, announced the activation of goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov from injured reserve. The 26-year-old netminder had been sidelined for the team's first 10 games this season with a lower-body injury.

In a related move, the Hurricanes placed defenseman K’Andre Miller on injured reserve, retroactive to Oct. 20. Details on Miller's injury were not specified in the announcement.

Shortly after his activation, Kochetkov was assigned to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League for a conditioning stint. The Penza, Russia native was selected by Carolina in the second round, 36th overall, at the 2019 NHL Draft.

Kochetkov posted a 27-16-3 record with a 2.60 goals-against average and .898 save percentage in 47 games for the Hurricanes during the 2024-25 season. In the playoffs that year, he went 1-1-0 with a 3.60 GAA and .855 SV% in four appearances. Over his NHL career with Carolina, spanning 116 games, Kochetkov holds a 65-36-12 record, 2.47 GAA, and .905 SV%.

In the AHL, he has a 33-7-4 record, 2.38 GAA, .911 SV%, and three shutouts in 44 games split between Chicago and Syracuse.
