Hypixel Studios revealed that the standard edition of Hytale will cost $19.99, while two special editions offering cosmetics such as capes and hats are priced at $34.99 for the Supporter level and $69.99 for the Cupbreaker level. This pricing strategy aims to make the game accessible to a wide audience, with higher tiers available for those wishing to support further development.
Studio's Revival Efforts
After Riot Games canceled Hytale in June, Hypixel Studios repurchased the rights on Monday, establishing full independence. The team, now consisting of 50 members, is working on a revised version based on a build from over four years ago. Collins-Laflamme described the move as a 'considerable personal risk,' stating on X, 'I said I was all in, and I am delivering on that promise.' He added that the game remains unfinished and 'janky,' but the vision is clear with rapid progress underway.
Background and Expectations
Originating from the Hypixel Minecraft server, Hytale was initially supported by Riot in 2018 and fully acquired by them in 2020, with a planned playable release in 2021. A 16-minute gameplay trailer released by Wednesday showcases enhanced combat elements alongside survival mechanics similar to Minecraft. Collins-Laflamme expressed enthusiasm, saying, 'This game has always been close to my heart, and I’m excited to bring it back home.' The early access approach will allow players to experience the game in its current state and contribute to its evolution.
