The international friendly match between Indonesia's U-23 national team and Mali U-23 took place at Stadion Pakansari in Cibinong, Bogor, on Saturday night, November 15, 2025. Indonesia, led by captain Ivar Jenner for the first time, fielded the lineup: Cahya Supriadi; Frengky Missa, Kakang Rudianto, Kadek Arel, Dony Tri Pamungkas; Ananda Raehan, Ivar Jenner, Raka Cahyana; Mauro Zijlstra, Rafael Struick, Rahmat Arjuna. Mali started aggressively and opened the scoring in the 5th minute through Sekou Doucoure's header from a corner kick.
Indonesia pressed back with chances from Dony Tri Pamungkas, Mauro Zijlstra, Rafael Struick, Rahmat Arjuna, and Ivar Jenner, but failed to score. Wilson Samake doubled Mali's lead in the 35th minute with an individual effort bypassing the defense. In the second half, coach Indra Sjafri substituted Wigi Pratama for the injured Rahmat Arjuna, and Indonesia played more aggressively, including Dony Tri's free kick in the 55th minute that sailed over. However, Moulaye Haidara scored Mali's third in injury time after a defensive error.
Coach Indra Sjafri acknowledged the team's performance was not poor but highlighted two crucial mistakes: the set-piece goal and Kakang Rudianto's loss of possession. "Nah memang ada kesalahan, satu goal dari set piece. Saya pikir itu bisa diatasi sebenarnya. Dan juga ada Kakang yang waktu directing dia diambil sekali terus dan langsung," he said. He emphasized evaluation for the 2025 SEA Games, noting Mali's level is higher than regional opponents.
Ivar Jenner, returning after a five-month injury, was thrilled to captain and saw positives. "Saya rasa permainan kami tadi tidak buruk. Kami bisa saja menciptakan beberapa peluang bagus. Saya rasa kami seharusnya bisa mencetak tiga gol," he stated. Mali's coach, Fousseni Diawara, was pleased with the early goal that built team confidence. The teams will meet again on November 18, 2025.
