Isaac del Toro secures third place in Tour de France 2026

Isaac del Toro, 22, moved into third place in the general classification of the Tour de France 2026 after stage 20 in the Alps. The Mexican rider from UAE Team Emirates-XRG became the first from his country to reach the podium in the event.

After completing the queen stage of 170.9 kilometers between Le Bourg d’Oisans and Alpe d’Huez in 5 hours 44 minutes, Del Toro finished fifth on the day and held his advantage over Paul Seixas. Tadej Pogacar, the virtual champion, supported him on the decisive section and the Mexican extended the gap on the Col de la Sarenne.

The general classification after 20 stages stood as follows: Tadej Pogacar first with 72 hours 53 minutes 44 seconds; Remco Evenepoel second, 6 minutes 26 seconds behind; and Isaac del Toro third, 9 minutes 42 seconds behind.

Del Toro will receive 100,000 euros for third place, plus bonuses that bring his approximate total to 126,550 euros. “The truth is that I had never felt so much pressure, but that is something only the privileged feel,” said the rider from Ensenada.

Stage 21, a ceremonial 89-kilometer ride to the Champs-Élysées in Paris, is scheduled for Sunday, July 26, 2026.
