Saviour legal drama begins filming in Liverpool locations

Production has begun on ITV's six-part legal thriller Saviour in Liverpool, following its announcement last month. Starring Aidan Gillen, Anjli Mohindra, and Shaun Parkes, filming is underway at sites including Everton Park and the Georgian Quarter, with the series set to air on ITV and ITVX later this year.

Written by Liverpool-born barrister Imran Mahmood, Saviour—previously announced with details on its plot of police corruption, racial politics, and personal secrets in the justice system—sees principal photography now active, supported by the Liverpool Film Office's Liverpool City Region Production Fund.

Filming has been spotted in Everton Park and on Bedford Street. Executive producers Peter Moffat and Nisha Parti (Parti Productions and Drama Republic) are overseeing the project.

ITV's director of drama Polly Hill commented on the casting and excitement around the drama. Producer Nisha Parti added: "I’m grateful to Polly Hill for believing in the script at the very early stages of development, and for Drama Republic coming on board to help steer the ship smoothly. I’d also like to thank All3Media International and the Liverpool City Region Production Fund as our additional financiers. Having Anjli, Shaun and Aidan, as well as so many other talented and diverse names working with our two very classy female directors to complete the Saviour family is a dream come true. I cannot wait to share the show with everyone."

The series draws authenticity from Mahmood's experience as a criminal barrister. Full cast and plot details were shared in the initial announcement.
