Javier Bardem will make his stage debut in the play ‘¡Chéjov, Chéjov!’, directed by his mentor Juan Carlos Corazza. The show will run in Madrid from November 5, 2026, to January 31, 2027.
The 57-year-old actor has never performed in theater during his career. The play is a creation by Corazza based on short works, stories and writings by Anton Chekhov. Bardem has studied with his mentor since 1990 and has said he owes him the actor he is.
The cast includes Alicia Borrachero, Manuela Velasco, Ben Temple and Rafa Castejón, all former students of Corazza. Performances will take place Thursdays through Sundays at Espacio Zafra.
Corazza stated in a release that Chekhov looks at the human with tenderness and compassion. Bardem also has the film El ser querido scheduled for release in August and appears in an Apple TV miniseries.
