Lakers extend winning streak to eight with 134-126 Heat victory

The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Miami Heat 134-126 on the road Thursday, pushing their winning streak to eight games. Luka Doncic scored 60 points, while LeBron James posted a triple-double of 19 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists. The win came one day after Doncic's 40 points against the Rockets.

The Lakers, who lead the Pacific Division and sit third in the Western Conference, have averaged 123 points per game during their eight-game streak, above their season average of 115.7. Notable wins include two against the Rockets, as well as the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks. Doncic followed his 40-point performance against Houston on Wednesday with 60 points against Miami on Thursday, despite the team arriving near 5 a.m. after a late flight. James contributed efficiently in support. The Lakers acquired Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks nearly 14 months ago. Since January 1, he has shot over 40% from three-point range on nearly 11 attempts per game. After the All-Star break, that improves to nearly 43% on more than 12 attempts per game. He has not received a technical foul since March 5 and leads the Lakers in steals while ranking top-10 league-wide among qualified players and seventh in charges drawn. The team looks ahead to Saturday's matchup at the Orlando Magic at 7 p.m. ET, where Los Angeles is a 3.5-point favorite. Orlando, leading the Southeast Division but sixth in the East, has lost its last three games and will be without forward Franz Wagner and guard Anthony Black.
