Referee Ruddy Buquet later confirmed the final abandonment in a short press conference, blocking immediate validation of the result.
Le Mans, leading 2-0 through goals from Erwan Colas and Milan Robin, had taken control against a Bastia side fighting for survival in Ligue 2. The visitors, coached by Patrick Videira, had been under pressure from Saint-Étienne and Red Star ahead of the fixture.
