M squared extends sponsorship for fifth Saqqara half marathon

Egyptian real estate developer M squared has extended its title sponsorship of the Saqqara Half Marathon for a third consecutive year, as the event introduces a 21-kilometre distance for the first time. The fifth edition, organized by The TriFactory, is set for Friday, 13 February 2026, expecting around 2,000 runners from over 60 nationalities.

Egyptian real estate firm M squared has renewed its title sponsorship for the Saqqara Half Marathon for the third year in a row. The fifth edition, put together by The TriFactory, will take place on Friday, 13 February 2026, and will offer 5km and 10km races alongside the new 21km half-marathon option. Backed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the event forms part of the "Race Through History" series, which leverages Egypt's ancient sites for sports activities.

The 10km and 21km routes will wind through the Saqqara Necropolis to the Abu Sir Pyramids along freshly paved interlock roads. The start, finish, and awards ceremony will all happen at the 5,000-year-old Step Pyramid of Saqqara.

Karim Malash, CEO of M squared—which is the real estate branch of Intro Investment Holdings—stated: "Our partnership with The TriFactory for this landmark race, hosted in an area of exceptional historical and strategic significance, is exemplary of our belief in the role of sporting events in presenting Egyptian heritage through a contemporary lens." He highlighted how the event boosts archaeological sites and sustainable tourism, viewing the sponsorship as an investment in "future-facing experiences." Malash emphasized that the company's development strategy focuses on building integrated, healthy communities via walkable spaces and shared facilities.

Ayman Hakky, founder and CEO of The TriFactory, noted that adding the half-marathon distance stems from years of groundwork in the historic setting. "Reaching a fifth edition and introducing the half marathon distance is the cumulative result of years of planning on the ground," Hakky said. "Working with M squared allows us to continue developing the race with the operational depth and stability needed to deliver it at this scale."

The collaboration seeks to elevate Egypt's standing in the international running scene by emphasizing top-notch organization and runner safety amid a rich heritage backdrop.
