According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Mets have made inquiries about the four-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger winner, who is considered MLB Trade Rumors' top free agent this offseason. Tucker, who played for the Chicago Cubs in 2025, posted a 136 wRC+, 22 home runs, 25 stolen bases, 91 runs scored, and 4.5 fWAR in what some described as a down year.
This interest aligns with the Mets' need for outfield help after a tumultuous winter. The team traded Brandon Nimmo and Jeff McNeil, designated Jose Siri for assignment, and saw Cedric Mullins depart in free agency. Juan Soto remains the anchor in right field, but the current projections list Tyrone Taylor and prospect Carson Benge in the other spots, highlighting the need for a proven star.
