MinMinas reaches 4.63 GW in renewable energy

The Ministry of Mines and Energy reported 4.63 GW of installed capacity in solar and renewable projects through July. The Plan 6GW Plus target fell 1.37 GW short.

The Ministry of Mines and Energy delivered the balance on the development of renewable energy generation projects. Through July the ministry reported 4.63 GW of installed capacity in solar and renewable projects.

The generation source breakdown stood at 54.9% hydraulic, 25.8% thermal and 19.2% solar and wind. The energy matrix reached 74.1% participation from renewable sources.

"We received a country with barely around 200 MW of solar and wind energy installed. Today we exceed 4,626 MW," said Minister Edwin Palma. The Renewable Energy Association SER Colombia noted that the expected target of 4,200 MW for this year has already been met.
