Nate Berkus to speak on timeless design at Harvard Square COOP

Interior designer Nate Berkus will appear at The COOP in Cambridge on March 3 for a conversation about his latest book and design principles. The free event, open to the public with RSVP required, features Berkus discussing his Four Tenets of Good Design alongside Marc Adelman. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

Nate Berkus, recognized as one of the world’s most influential interior designers for his refined yet livable approach, is scheduled to visit The COOP at 1400 Mass Ave. in Harvard Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts, on March 3. The event, titled 'Design Expert Nate Berkus at The COOP,' will take place on the third floor and offers attendees an evening of inspiration focused on creating meaningful spaces.

Berkus's latest book, Foundations: Timeless Design That Feels Personal, released by Simon & Schuster in fall 2025, became a New York Times bestseller. The book draws from more than three decades of Berkus's experience, providing a room-by-room guide to designing with intention, layering with confidence, and building rooms that reflect personal stories. During the event, Berkus will explore his Four Tenets of Good Design in conversation with Marc Adelman, sharing insights on what makes a home feel timeless rather than trend-driven, collected rather than decorated, and unmistakably personal.

Adelman, founder of Adelmania Consulting, has spent over two decades advising at the intersection of media, politics, philanthropy, and culture. He has worked with corporations, nonprofits, and public figures to connect ideas with audiences. Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid once called Adelman his “court jester,” highlighting his ability to keep serious discussions candid and human.

The COOP, established in 1882, serves as a hub for discovery, connection, and community, enriching campus life and beyond. The event is free and open to the public, though RSVP is required and includes agreement to receive updates on COOP events and offers. Books by Berkus will be available for purchase and signing. A photographer may capture images for marketing; attendees wishing to opt out should inform staff upon arrival.
