The National Education Association has put forward a series of proposals that include calls for the impeachment of President Donald Trump and taxpayer-funded educational reparations. The measures were advanced by delegates at the union's recent gathering.
Delegates backed Item 10, which directs the union to demand the impeachment, conviction, and removal of Donald Trump from office. The proposal also includes plans for a national march on Washington before the November 2026 midterm elections and carries an estimated cost of $5,236,193.
Additional items address educational reparations through lobbying efforts with the Congressional Black Caucus. These would seek to eliminate student loan debt, support historically Black colleges and universities, and alter property-tax-based school funding.
Further proposals cover the distribution of multilingual materials to assist with immigration enforcement interactions, at a cost of nearly $219,000. Other measures focus on classroom content related to the Israeli-Hamas conflict and transgender issues, with combined costs exceeding $6 million.
The 3-million-member organization noted that the funding for these initiatives is not currently included in its budget.
