Netflix has renewed Tyler Perry's Beauty in Black for a fourth season after previously announcing the series would conclude with season three. The decision reverses an earlier plan to end the drama.
Tyler Perry said the Bellarie family's story continues in a statement. "'Beauty in Black' is back for Season 4 and the Bellarie family's story is far from finished," he said. "There was so much more I wanted to explore and I'm grateful I get to keep telling this story."
Series star Taylor Polidore Williams had expressed surprise at the prior cancellation announcement. She noted the show had strong viewership numbers and that the cast had already filmed 32 episodes across the first two seasons.
All episodes of season three were completed in six days of filming. A premiere date for that season has not yet been set. The synopsis indicates Kimmie joins the Bellarie table amid a family feud involving blackmail and revenge.
