Netflix to add Paramount shows including Taylor Sheridan's Mayor of Kingstown

Netflix is expanding its library with around 20 Paramount series arriving on the platform in the coming year. The lineup includes SEAL Team, Watson, and Taylor Sheridan's Mayor of Kingstown for US viewers. This marks the first time a Sheridan series will stream on Netflix.

Netflix announced in its fourth-quarter letter to shareholders on Tuesday that it will bolster its licensed content with approximately 20 new Paramount shows over the next year. Among the titles heading to the streamer for US audiences are SEAL Team, Watson—a Sherlock Holmes-inspired CBS procedural—and Mayor of Kingstown, created by Taylor Sheridan. This addition is notable as it represents the debut of any Taylor Sheridan TV series on Netflix.

Other Paramount series like Matlock and King of Queens will join the platform but only in international markets. The deal highlights Netflix's strategy to license original Paramount-owned content, diversifying its offerings.

In related developments, Netflix secured a new agreement with Universal Pictures, positioning it as the first streaming destination for the studio's live-action films, including Jurassic World: Rebirth. These movies will become available starting this month. Additionally, Netflix expanded its partnership with Sony to stream feature films worldwide after their theatrical and home entertainment releases. The rollout begins later this year on a gradual basis, encompassing titles such as The Legend of Zelda and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

During the fourth-quarter earnings call, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos highlighted the company's 2026 slate, featuring projects like Narnia, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, a new season of Beef, and the heist film Here Comes the Flood starring Denzel Washington and Robert Pattinson.

Paramount has initiated a hostile takeover bid for all of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), challenging Netflix's recent agreement to acquire WBD's streaming and film businesses. The bid values WBD at $108.4 billion, a 139 percent premium over its September stock price. Paramount argues its offer provides better value for shareholders amid antitrust concerns surrounding the Netflix deal.
