Netflix has announced a new documentary that offers an inside look at the production of Stranger Things' final season. Titled "One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5," it premieres on January 12. The film highlights the efforts behind the Duffer brothers' acclaimed series.
Stranger Things concluded its five-season run on Netflix, and the streamer is now providing fans with a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the creation of its finale. The documentary, "One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5," is set to premiere on Monday, January 12, according to Netflix's announcement.
Directed by Martina Radwan, the film explores the years of effort and craftsmanship that shaped the last installment of the series, which has defined a generation through its blend of 1980s nostalgia and supernatural drama. The official synopsis describes it as an intimate view of how the production came together.
The Duffer brothers, creators of the show, shared their inspiration in a statement: "Growing up in Durham, North Carolina, we dreamed of becoming filmmakers — but Hollywood felt impossibly far away. Everything changed when we watched the behind-the-scenes documentaries for 'The Lord of the Rings' — on-the-ground films that showed the real nuts and bolts of how a massive production actually gets made. We saw how stressed Peter Jackson was and thought: yep, that's the dream. With the decline of physical media, that kind of behind-the-scenes storytelling has largely disappeared. We wanted to bring it back."
They added that the documentary, beautifully captured by Radwan, aims to revive that tradition. "If you love 'Stranger Things,' or if you're simply curious how a major Hollywood production comes to life, this one's for you."
Meanwhile, the Stranger Things universe continues to expand with three spinoffs in development: an animated series, a live-action series, and a Broadway play, signaling the franchise's enduring appeal beyond its original run.
