New Alien game reportedly in development for 2028 release

A new single-player Alien game is back in development, according to reports. The arcade survival horror title, set on a decaying space station, is being handled by Eidos Montreal. It is expected to launch in 2028 across all platforms.

Reports indicate that a promising video game in the Alien franchise is once again under development. According to Insider Gaming, the project was first mentioned in 2022 under the codename "Marathon" and has since moved through several developers before landing with Eidos Montreal, the studio behind Shadow of the Tomb Raider and the upcoming Fable reboot.

The game is described as an arcade survival horror experience set in a decaying space station, drawing comparisons to "Shadow of the Tomb Raider with Xenomorphs." Its development budget has been increased to less than $75 million, up from an initial $30 million a few years ago. Currently in early development, the title is said to be in a "good place" by sources, though details and the release date remain subject to change.

There is potential for the game to include Ripley 8, the human-Xenomorph hybrid introduced in Alien Resurrection. This development comes amid renewed interest in the franchise, boosted by the recent film Alien: Romulus. No official announcement has been made, but the project aims for a 2028 release on all platforms.
