Peter Greene's manager Gregg Edwards described their last phone call on Wednesday as 'totally normal,' just before the Pulp Fiction actor's unexpected death at 60. Unusual Christmas music played nonstop from his Lower East Side apartment until a Friday wellness check led to the discovery of his body. No foul play is suspected.
Update on Final Days
As previously reported, actor Peter Greene, famed for villainous roles in Pulp Fiction (1994), The Mask (1994), and The Usual Suspects (1995), was found dead in his Manhattan Lower East Side apartment on December 13, 2025, at age 60. No foul play is suspected, per authorities.
Greene's longtime manager and friend Gregg Edwards spoke with him by phone on Wednesday, ahead of Greene's planned benign tumor removal surgery near his lung (scheduled for Friday) and Edwards' hernia operation. 'He sounded okay … It was just a totally normal conversation. He was a little nervous about the operation going in, but he said it wasn’t super serious,' Edwards said. The pair, friends for over a decade, exchanged well-wishes.
Neighbors reported Christmas music blasting continuously from Greene's Clinton Street apartment starting shortly after the call, looping until Friday afternoon. A resident requested a wellness check around 3:25 p.m., when police and a locksmith found Greene unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene; the medical examiner will determine the cause.
Edwards noted Greene's past struggles with addiction but said he appeared happy and healthy lately. Neighbors described him as kind and helpful—assisting with packages, groceries, and pets. 'He was an amazing man. He was the very, very best,' one said. Another called the loss 'pretty devastating for everybody in the building.'
Upcoming Projects
Greene was set to co-produce and narrate the documentary From the American People: The Withdrawal of USAID, directed by Edwards with Jason Alexander, Kathleen Turner, and Nicholas Kristof (recording pending). He was also slated to begin production in January on the indie thriller Mascots with Mickey Rourke.
