Remo beat Goiás 3-1 in the final Série B round to earn promotion to Brazil's top football division for the first time since 1994. Fans invaded the Mangueirão pitch in Belém to celebrate the historic achievement. Coritiba, Athletico-PR and Chapecoense also gained promotion to the 2026 Série A.
In the final round of Brazil's Série B championship on November 23, 2025, Remo staged an exciting comeback against Goiás, winning 3-1 at Mangueirão Stadium in Belém. The Leão's goals came from Pedro Rocha, the competition's top scorer with 15 goals, and João Pedro, who netted twice. Willean Lepo scored for the visitors. Before the match, the Pará side sat sixth with 59 points and needed a win plus stumbles from rivals to promote.
The victory allowed Remo to surpass Goiás and Criciúma in the standings, finishing fourth with 62 points and securing a return to Série A after 31 years away, since 1994. Fans, filling the stadium, could not contain their joy and invaded the pitch to celebrate with the players. A large image of Nossa Senhora de Nazaré, the club's patron saint, was unfurled on the field.
Coached by Guto Ferreira, Remo entered the last round winless in their previous three games. Northern Brazil had no representative in the top flight since 2005, when rival Paysandu was relegated – the same Paysandu that played in the 2003 Libertadores. During the long absence, Remo even competed in Série D.
Other promotions were confirmed: Coritiba clinched the title by beating Amazonas 2-1, totaling 68 points; Athletico-PR took second with 65 points after defeating América-MG 1-0; and Chapecoense rose to third with 62 points, overcoming Atlético-GO 1-0. Goiás and Criciúma, both on 61 points, missed the top four. At the bottom, Ferroviária (41 points), Amazonas (36), Volta Redonda (36), and Paysandu (29) were relegated to Série C.
