Senators question Enrique Inzunza absence from congress

Senator Lilly Téllez questioned the absence of Morena senator Enrique Inzunza in the Permanent Commission on Thursday, amid US accusations of alleged links to the Sinaloa Cartel.

PAN Senator Lilly Téllez repeatedly asked “Where is Inzunza?” during the session of the Permanent Commission of Congress. She also attacked Morena by shouting “What disgust the narcopoliticians”.

Enrique Inzunza, senator for Sinaloa, has not attended legislative activities since May 6. That day he announced he would remain in his land to prevent adversaries from turning the session into an “indignified spectacle of the parliamentary precinct”.

The legislator appears in an indictment from the Southern District Court of New York for alleged conspiracy to import narcotics to the United States and for receiving million-dollar bribes from Los Chapitos in exchange for cartel protection.

PAN Senator Homero Niño de Rivera noted that Inzunza remains protected by his immunity and questioned how his salary would be deposited if his accounts are frozen. Gerardo Fernández Noroña covered his attendance record.
