Student stabbed in Giza while intervening to save friend

Ibrahim Reda, a top student in his second year of secondary school, was stabbed in his left arm and back while trying to intervene in a fight between a landlord and his classmate in the Kaabish area of Faisal in Giza. The incident occurred as he waited outside for a math tutoring session, stemming from an old dispute with a Sudanese woman living in the opposite building. His mother confirmed that her son had no prior involvement in any troubles.

Ibrahim Reda, a 15-year-old second-year secondary school student, was standing outside his classmate's house in the Kaabish area of Faisal in Giza, waiting for his math tutor, when he saw the landlord of the opposite building assaulting his friend Abdel-Rahman over an old dispute with a Sudanese woman living there. Reda tried to intervene, saying, 'Shame on you, uncle, leave him alone,' but the man pulled out a knife and stabbed him in his left arm, and then his nephew rushed in and stabbed him in the back with a box cutter.

His mother, Shaimaa Salah, a specialist in communication skills development and autism therapy, recounted: 'I heard loud knocking on the door. I opened it and found my son covered in blood, with his hand badly cut.' She rushed him to al-Haram General Hospital, where doctors stitched the wounds on his elbow and back, noting that the stab did not hit a vital area. Afterward, she went to al-Haram police station to file an official report, presenting the medical report and demanding her rights under the law.

Salah explained that the attacker did not know her son personally but held a grudge against the students due to a fight a week earlier between them and the Sudanese woman, during which Reda was absent at a swimming competition. 'My son was punished for someone else's mistake. He didn't know the person and had never seen him before,' she said sorrowfully.

Since the incident, everything in the house has changed; Reda is silent all the time, doesn't laugh, and refuses to meet friends or return to school or the club. He keeps asking his mother, 'Mom, what did I do to deserve all this? I was just defending my friend.' He lives in a 'room of silence,' only leaving it at night to sit on the balcony watching cars pass by.

The academically excellent student, who ranked first nationally in middle school with a score of 280 out of 280 and first in his school in his first year of high school, also loved sports; he became a junior swimming coach at his academy despite being young. He was supposed to participate in a Giza governorate-level swimming championship that day but excused himself from the tutoring session.

Security forces in the Giza Security Directorate are intensifying efforts to apprehend the perpetrators. A team from al-Haram police station examined surveillance cameras, conducted necessary investigations, and interviewed eyewitnesses. The Public Prosecution was notified to begin its investigations.
