Tesla enthusiast's family gathering leads to in-laws' Model Y purchase

A Texas-based Tesla enthusiast named Josh shared how bringing his Cybertruck and Model S to a Thanksgiving family gathering convinced his in-laws to buy a Tesla Model Y. Within 48 hours of test-driving the vehicles and experiencing Full Self-Driving software, his mother-in-law took delivery of the new car. Her husband now plans to order a Model X, turning their household fully electric.

Josh, a Tesla enthusiast from Texas, recounted his experience on X following a Thanksgiving family gathering. He and his wife, Amanda, brought their Tesla Model S and Cybertruck to the event, where they offered rides to Amanda's mom and stepdad. During the demonstration in the Model S, they showcased Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) software. The mother-in-law then drove the vehicle back to the gathering and engaged FSD herself, leaving them impressed.

The next day, while Josh and Amanda drove to Austin for the weekend, they received a text from the mother-in-law. She had purchased a new Model Y Long Range AWD on her way back home to Tennessee. The vehicle was available at a lot in Knoxville, allowing delivery less than 48 hours after the initial test drive. After an hour-long drive home, she called to express her enthusiasm, noting she 'absolutely loved the vehicle' and praising the easy buying and delivery process, as well as the FSD features. She immediately subscribed to FSD.

Her husband plans to order a new Tesla Model X to replace his current vehicle. Josh highlighted that in just a few weeks, his in-laws transitioned from owning no electric vehicles to two Teslas, becoming an all-EV household. He included a photo of the red Model Y with temporary plates in his post, captioned starting with 'BUTTS IN SEATS.'

Fellow Tesla fans in the comments supported the approach, with one, Chansoo Byeon, writing, 'This is the way. Families don't let families spend more money on other worthless things. Tesla is the way.' Another commented, 'Once you experience a Tesla, it's hard to go back to an internal combustion vehicle.' A third shared, 'How cool! I was that guy for my family. Bought my first Tesla Model S in 2018, and now everyone in the family is on board. It's so obvious!' Tesla's official account responded with a heart emoji.
