With starting quarterback C.J. Stroud sidelined by a concussion, Davis Mills stepped in and sparked the comeback. Mills threw touchdown passes to Jaylen Higgins and Dalton Schultz, then capped his performance with a 14-yard rushing touchdown—his first since 2022—that gave Houston a 30-29 lead with 31 seconds remaining.
The Texans' defense played a crucial role, forcing two punts and limiting Jacksonville to just 11 yards in the fourth quarter. Earlier, Mills had been intercepted on the third play from scrimmage, and Jaguars running back Travis Etienne scored on a 6-yard run late in the third to extend the lead.
