Three arrested for allegedly luring woman with acting offer and coercing her into intimate photoshoot

Chennai police arrested three individuals on Monday for allegedly luring a 31-year-old woman with a false acting opportunity and attempting to coerce her into posing for intimate photographs.

The arrests followed a complaint from the woman, an actor from Saligramam. She said she received a call on Sunday from Nandhi Ramanathan, who claimed to be a film producer. He allegedly told her she had been shortlisted for the role of a goddess and invited her to an audition at a hotel in the area.

When she arrived, Ramanathan was present with two women. The group verified her details, took photographs with mobile phones, and then demanded she pose nude. She refused and left the hotel before alerting the police control room.

Officers from the Singappen Special Task Force and Virugambakkam Police Station detained the suspects at the hotel. The arrested individuals were identified as Nandhi Ramanathan, 65, from Perungudi, Karthika Devi, 45, from Virudhunagar, and Indirani, 40, from Sholinganallur. Police seized three mobile phones and registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act. The trio was produced before a court on Monday and remanded to judicial custody.
