The story follows Jess (Diane Kruger), a devoted stay-at-home mother, who brings her infant daughter to the hospital with an unexplained head injury. Her friend Liz (Jo Joyner), an ER doctor on duty, faces a dilemma: report the incident to social services or protect their friendship. This choice triggers a cascade of events that threatens the families and the group of four women—Jess, Liz, Charlotte (Shelley Conn), and Mel (Emily Taaffe)—who formed a support network during pregnancy.
