Troops of Operation Hadin Kai arrested two men suspected of aiding Boko Haram and cattle rustling during a joint operation with local hunters at Buni Yadi Friday Market in Yobe State.
The operation took place at about 2:00 p.m. on July 24 at the market in Gujba Local Government Area. Troops of 27 Task Force Brigade worked with members of a hunters’ group after receiving intelligence.
The suspects were identified as Muhammadu Sani, 32, from Mainahari village in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, and Buba Umaru, 40, from Garin Jauro in Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State. One suspect attacked a hunter with a cutlass during the arrest, causing severe head injuries.
Preliminary investigations showed that Muhammadu Sani confessed to supplying logistics and information to Boko Haram for nearly seven years and to guiding the group during cattle rustling incidents. The two men remain in the custody of 27 Task Force Brigade for further questioning.
