Vox has designated Álvaro Zancajo as autonomous senator for Andalusia. The journalist, who serves as Santiago Abascal’s press chief, is under investigation for alleged incompatibility with his RTVA board position.
The far-right party registered the appointment in the Andalusian Parliament on Monday. In the document Zancajo states that he is not subject to any incompatibility and meets all legal requirements.
Zancajo has held a board seat at RTVA since 2022 that requires exclusive dedication. The Andalusian Anti-Fraud Office is investigating a complaint from Adelante Andalucía alleging that his role as Vox national media coordinator since October 2024 violates the rule.
Vox has also proposed María Pastor Pérez-Angulo as the second autonomous senator. The governing agreement with the PP allows the party to take one of the five seats originally allocated to the conservatives.
The new senators will assume their posts on Thursday during the regional parliament’s plenary session.
