Sevilla school ignored bullying protocols before student's suicide
Sevilla's Irlandesas Loreto school failed to activate mandatory anti-bullying protocols despite family complaints about a 14-year-old student who died by suicide this week. Andalusia's Department of Educational Development has identified possible negligence and will refer the case to the Prosecutor's Office. The Andalusian Ombudsman is also launching an ex officio investigation.
Six boys granted bail after Milnerton High assault
Six of eight boys charged with assaulting a 16-year-old cancer survivor at Milnerton High School in Cape Town have been granted R2,000 bail each. The attack, captured in a viral video, involved weapons like a hockey stick and prompted school suspensions and calls for better anti-bullying measures. The case was postponed to allow the accused to prepare for exams.
