Fifth Japanese evacuation flight arrives from Oman with 46 people

The fifth government-chartered flight evacuating people from the Middle East landed at Tokyo's Haneda Airport from Muscat, Oman, on Friday, carrying 42 Japanese nationals and four South Koreans from Oman and the UAE. This brings the total evacuated via these flights to 822.

As part of Japan's ongoing operation to evacuate nationals and others from the Middle East amid the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran—initially announced on March 5—the fifth chartered flight arrived at Haneda Airport from Oman's capital Muscat on Friday morning. It transported 46 individuals (42 Japanese and four South Koreans) who had been in Oman and the United Arab Emirates, according to the Foreign Ministry.

Combined with the previous four flights, 822 people have now been evacuated using these services. A sixth flight is set to depart from Riyadh on Friday, after which the operation is expected to conclude for those wishing to return to Japan.
