Airbnb offers $750 incentive to some Atlanta hosts for World Cup

Airbnb is providing a $750 bonus to new hosts in select Atlanta zip codes who list their entire homes before July 31 in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The incentive aims to meet surging demand for accommodations during the tournament, which Atlanta will host eight matches for, including a semi-final. Company officials expect this to boost local incomes and generate significant revenue for the city.

Airbnb has launched what it calls its biggest new host incentive ever ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. The program offers an extra $750 to new entire-home hosts who list their properties and host guests before July 31, but it is limited to specific zip codes in host cities, including Atlanta.

Airbnb Chief Business Officer Dave Stephenson stated, “As the world’s biggest sporting event comes to North America, Airbnb is launching its biggest new host incentive ever. Demand for World Cup stays on Airbnb is surging, allowing residents of host cities to boost their incomes by sharing their homes and the communities they love.” He added, “There’s truly never been a better time to become a host on Airbnb.”

The company serves as FIFA’s Official Alternative Accommodations and Experiences Booking Platform, covering the 2026 men’s tournament and the 2027 women’s event. This incentive applies to all 16 host cities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. In Atlanta, hosts are projected to earn an average of $3,700 before the bonus.

Atlanta will host eight matches, including a semi-final, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors according to city officials. Airbnb estimates its guests will contribute $70 million in local revenue. A Focaldata survey found that about 60% of Georgia respondents would consider renting out space in their homes during the tournament to cover debts, living expenses, or savings.

To support potential hosts, Airbnb plans a Hosting 101 event in Atlanta on March 24-25, with details forthcoming in the coming weeks.
