Argos expands its concrete plant in Santa Marta

Cementos Argos has launched a new concrete production line in Santa Marta, with a capacity of 55 cubic meters per hour and over 10,000 cubic meters monthly. This expansion builds on the April 2024 investment that increased the plant's capacity by 20%, addressing urban growth in Colombia's Caribbean region.

Cementos Argos, part of the Argos Group, announced the launch of a new production line at its concrete plant in Santa Marta. This initiative boosts the installed capacity to 55 cubic meters per hour, enabling the production of over 10,000 cubic meters per month. It follows the expansion in April 2024, when the company raised output by 20% to meet rising demand.

The main goal is to support infrastructure and construction projects in the capital of Magdalena and its surrounding areas. Amid regional development in Colombia's Caribbean, the firm aims to solidify its local market presence. William Nassar, manager of Cementos Argos' Northern Zone, stated that "the decision reflects the company's confidence in Santa Marta's economic potential and the need to provide market-tailored solutions while upholding quality and service standards".

Beyond the new facilities, Argos will enhance its vehicle fleet for concrete distribution and hire local talent. These steps will foster formal job creation and economic vitality in the area. Overall, this expansion will nearly double the plant's total capacity in Santa Marta, reinforcing the company's role in the city's urban growth.
