FC Bayern Munich ended the calendar year with a convincing 4-0 victory over 1. FC Heidenheim. The match was on matchday 15 of the Bundesliga and marked the first game after the winter solstice. Bayern, coached by Vincent Kompany, remained the only unbeaten team in the top-five national leagues and solidified their nine-point lead over Borussia Dortmund.
Josip Stanišić scored the 1-0 goal with a header from a Michael Olise corner in the 15th minute. Jonathan Tah headed the ball back into the center, where goalkeeper Diont Ramaj touched it before Stanišić finished from close range. The 2-0 came in the 32nd minute through Michael Olise, set up by a flank from 17-year-old Lennart Karl, who delivered a strong performance. Jamal Musiala had returned to team training during the week, potentially threatening Karl's starting spot.
With nine professionals absent, coach Kompany fielded four U19 players: David Santos Daiber, Wisdom Mike, Cassiano Kiala, and Lennart Karl. They contributed significantly to the win. In the second half, Heidenheim's coach Frank Schmidt substituted Arijon Ibrahimović and Stefan Schimmer, creating chances – Schimmer hit the crossbar (56.), Ibrahimović shot over (68.), and later failed against keeper Jonas Urbig. Still, it stayed 2-0 until Luis Díaz scored in the 86th minute for 3-0, and Harry Kane sealed it in stoppage time (90.+2).
Heidenheim, which staged a 3-2 comeback in April 2024, continues to battle relegation. Schmidt lamented: "We missed two or three clear-cut chances." Bayern will use the winter break for recovery.
