BBC One drama Wild Cherry reveals full cast lineup

BBC One has launched the new coming-of-age drama Wild Cherry, starring Carmen Ejogo as self-made entrepreneur Lorna and Eve Best as wealthy Juliet. The series delves into mother-daughter dynamics in a gated community, complicated by a scandal involving their teenage daughters. Writer Nicôle Lecky also portrays Gigi, a life coach, while narrating the show.

Plot Overview

Wild Cherry centers on close friends Lorna and Juliet, residents of an affluent gated community. The story follows their daughters, Grace and Allegra, whose bond is tested by a shocking scandal at their elite private school. This unleashes secrets and deception, exploring themes of privilege, power, and social media. The synopsis describes it as a 'coming-of-age drama for both mothers and daughters,' where 'like mother like daughter' echoes in a world of hidden dangers.

Key Cast Members

Carmen Ejogo plays Lorna, a character who maintains a sense of mystery while pressuring her daughter Grace to excel. Ejogo is known for roles in The Penguin, Your Honour, Selma, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Eve Best portrays Juliet, who shares a complicated relationship with her daughter Allegra, desperately seeking her affection. Best's credits include House of the Dragon, The Crown, Nurse Jackie, and Fate: The Winx Saga. She discussed Juliet's dynamic: 'They have a very complicated relationship. Allegra can barely be in the same room frankly, but Juliet is desperate for her love, attention, anything.'

Imogen Faires stars as Grace, with previous roles in Marcella, Dickensian, and Casualty. Amelia May plays Allegra.

Nicôle Lecky, who wrote and executive-produced the series, takes on the role of Gigi, the community's American life coach and narrator. Lecky, seen in Sweetpea and Death in Paradise, shared: 'Being a showrunner, writing and executive-producing the entire series is already a big role... But I'm so passionate about the story, the show, and the women in the show.'

The ensemble also includes Sophie Winkleman, James Murray, Nathaniel Martello-White, Jason York, Isabelle Allen, Catriona Chandler, and Tara Webb.
