Connor Bedard scored and added two assists to take the NHL scoring lead, while Arvid Soderblom made 45 saves. The Blackhawks went 3-for-3 on the power play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.
The game began quickly with Detroit's Dylan Larkin penalized for tripping Chicago's Tyler Bertuzzi just 26 seconds in. Bedard capitalized on the power play, scoring a wrist shot from the right circle at 59 seconds to give Chicago a 1-0 lead. Larkin tied it at 1-1 at 4:19, converting a rebound from Lucas Raymond's shot.
In the second period, Teuvo Teravainen restored Chicago's advantage with a power-play one-timer from Burakovsky's pass at 3:22, making it 2-1. Arvid Soderblom shone in net, denying a two-on-one chance for Larkin and Raymond. Despite Detroit outshooting Chicago 14-6 in the period, the Red Wings failed to score on power plays, including after Tyler Bertuzzi's four-minute penalty for roughing and unsportsmanlike conduct.
The third period saw Simon Edvinsson penalized, leading to Bertuzzi's power-play goal at 5:09, stuffing the puck past John Gibson for a 3-1 lead—his sixth goal in three games. Detroit outshot Chicago 22-5 but went 0-for-5 on the power play overall. Andre Burakovsky added an empty-net goal at 16:37 for 4-1, and rookie Oliver Moore scored his first NHL goal with 16 seconds left to seal the 5-1 win.
"Confidence is a huge factor in life, and especially on special teams," Blackhawks coach Jeff Blashill said. Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin admitted, "Not good enough." Soderblom highlighted stopping his brother Elmer: "It was special to play on the world’s largest stage."
Chicago improved to 8-5-3, finishing their six-game road trip 3-2-1. Detroit fell to 9-7-0, losing three straight.
