Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka is set to make his PGA Tour return at the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course. The event marks the first time in nearly 20 years that ESPN will air live coverage of a non-major Tour tournament. Koepka headlines a 147-player field, paired with Max Homa and Ludvig Åberg for the opening rounds.
The PGA Tour announced on Monday that Brooks Koepka, absent from non-major events since March 2022, will compete in the Farmers Insurance Open from January 29 to February 1 at Torrey Pines in San Diego, California. Koepka's participation comes through the Returning Member Program, established to reintegrate elite performers. He expressed excitement on social media, stating, "I am just as excited today to announce that I am returning to the PGA TOUR. Being closer to home and spending more time with my family makes this opportunity especially meaningful to me."
ESPN will broadcast the first two rounds live from noon to 3 p.m. ET on Thursday and Friday, simulcasting the ESPN+ feed and available on Hulu and Disney+. This is the first such coverage since the 2006 WGC-Barbados World Cup. Golf Channel follows from 3 p.m. ET, with CBS handling weekend rounds. The move, described as a one-week test, aligns with new PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp's focus on expanding audience reach without additional fees.
Koepka, a nine-time PGA Tour winner with five majors, joins a strong field including world No. 6 Xander Schauffele as the betting favorite at +1400 odds, defending champion Harris English at +2700, and Ludvig Åberg at +1700. He has committed to the WM Phoenix Open next week and the Cognizant Classic in February. At Torrey Pines, Koepka's best finish is T4 at the 2021 U.S. Open; he has missed the cut in three of four prior Farmers appearances.
Featured groups include Koepka with 2023 winner Max Homa and Åberg, who won The Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines last year due to wildfires. Other pairings feature English with Schauffele and J.J. Spaun, plus Jason Day, Justin Rose and Hideki Matsuyama. The $9.6 million purse underscores the event's prestige on the two-course rotation, with weekend play on the South Course.
