Cardinals WR Zay Jones out for season with torn Achilles

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Zay Jones suffered a torn Achilles tendon during Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks, sidelining him for the remainder of the season. The injury occurred while Jones turned to question an official about a non-call. Coach Jonathan Gannon confirmed the diagnosis on Monday.

Jones, 30, appeared to take a few steps after the injury before collapsing on the turf. Medical personnel assisted him off the field, and the team ruled him out shortly after. Video replays showed telltale signs of a torn Achilles, including Jones looking down at his leg and a visible pop in his calf.

The incident happened during a lopsided 44-22 loss to the Seahawks, with the Cardinals already trailing by 35 points. This marks another setback for Arizona's injury-riddled season. Starting quarterback Kyler Murray has been out for over a month with a foot injury and was placed on injured reserve. Running back James Conner was lost early in the year, followed by backup Trey Benson. Starting cornerbacks Will Johnson and Max Melton also missed the Seahawks game.

Jones is in his second season with the Cardinals after stints with the Buffalo Bills—who drafted him in the second round in 2017—the Oakland Raiders, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has a history of injuries, including multiple shoulder issues, knee and hamstring problems, and a concussion.
